Carers Week

Our Support For Carers project supports over 5000 carers throughout Leicestershire and as one of the events held during Carers Week, along with Blaby District Council we organised the Carers Olympics at Huncote Leisure Centre.

We wanted to have  a fun morning with carers being given the opportunity at looking at different ways of enjoying some physical activities whatever their ability, as the main theme of cares week is staying healthy and connected.

We had such a fun day with around 40 people split into teams of 5 and able to try out a variety of different activities including:

Arm chair volleyball,

Indoor curling,

Bean bag and bucket,

Singing and joining in with armchair exercises

And the one they all got excited about –  egg and spoon race

We encouraged anyone that wanted to dress for the occasion i.e. leg warmers, sweat bands, silly sportswear to do so.  After lunch presentation of medals/cups/certificates were awarded

It was  a morning full of laughter and thanks to our project officer Jackie for all the work she put in.
