Community Champions Event

36 people ( 18 clients, 8 volunteers, 3 Friends, 2 Drivers , a visitor and  4 staff) met at Market Harborough Golf Club for VASL’s Community Champions September Community Gathering and conversation flowed as people tried the  delicious selection of cakes and swapped summer tales.

Our visitor, Tim Savage, the Market Towns Museum Officer from the Harborough Museum told us what the museum’s collections included ( eg, Hallaton Treasure, artefacts from local companies like Symingtons and Faulkners) but best of all he brought with him a selection of  artefacts to show  amongst them were a fosillised squid, a roman oil lamp and a shoe last, which he passed round. The canon ball was amazingly heavy!

Tim’s input and resources triggered lots of memories as some clients shared their recollections positive and negative)  of working for these famous  companies.

“Thank you for inviting me to your wonderful group – I have learnt so much from your clients” reflected Tim

“A huge thank you to everyone who helped to make our gathering such a lovely time. We had some lovely feedback from the group:

“I really enjoyed it…met some new people and I enjoyed the museum talk. Really just so interesting. Don’t think I will ever feel lonely again”
