Vacancy – Could you be a VASL Trustee? Posted on Wednesday, 12 August 2020
Trustees – VASL (Voluntary Action South Leicestershire) Market Harborough
VASL is a local charity based at Torch House in Market Harborough. We provide a range of excellent services to the communities of Harborough District, and across Leicestershire. These include supporting carers – including young carers, reducing loneliness and isolation, helping those with concerns about their mental health, and a transport scheme for the less mobile.
Volunteers are a central way that we deliver our services. A key volunteering role is that of Trustee. Our Trustees have responsibility for the longer term development and planning of the organisation, financial planning and oversight, and ensuring our services are delivered to a high standard.
Our Board of Trustees usually meets every two months, although during the Covid-19 crisis, we have been meeting more frequently to support the Charity Manager in managing the situation. We are proud that we have been able to continue to deliver most of our services albeit in different ways.
Covid has brought new issues to the governance of VASL. Given the challenges ahead, the time is right to further strengthen our Board of Trustees.
Would you like to join us? There are no specific requirements but we need people who have a range of experiences and skills to be part of the team.
It would help to have new trustees who have experience of strategic planning, budgets, marketing or Human Resources. BUT what we most need are people who care about the charity, want to make a difference in their local community, and contribute to a successful organisation.
We are committed to diversity and aim to ensure that the composition of the Board of Trustees reflects our local communities.
These posts are unpaid but reasonable expenses will be paid. Applicants will be asked to submit a CV, complete an application form and a short skills audit.
For an informal discussion with our Chair, Linda Jones, please email Maureen at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange this.
