Covid update April 2022 Posted on Monday, 4 April 2022

There are three new or returning initiatives this month.

VASL Car Scheme We are delighted that our very popular bus trips are beginning again this month, details are here. We are continuing to take people to medical appointments and to support the Jubilee Foodbank, we still need to recruit more volunteers to get us back to our pre-covid number of journeys.

Support for Carers The phone line is available 9am-5pm Monday to Friday if you need advice or to complete a carer’s assessment. Support groups are meeting face to face during the day and the evening groups are continuing on Zoom to allow people to join who can’t leave the person they care for and those who work during office hours. April is Active Carers month and we are delighted to be working with Leisure Centres around the County to offer discounts to carers for sessions. The details are here

Community Champions volunteers are visiting at home where both people are happy with this and some volunteers are still phoning or writing rather than visiting.
There is a face to face gathering on 9th March and Digital Support Sessions at MH Library on 6th April and Lutterworth Library on 11th April – you need to book a space. Some events will still be online eg book club and mini zooms so that as many people as possible can join in.

Wellbeing Befriending Service is telephone based and is continuing to support people who want to make changes to improve their lives. This is helpful for people who find their lives are still restricted by the impact of isolation over the last two years. WBS is working with My Mind Matters to host a Wellness at the Well session on the last Thursday of each month.

My Mind Matters is continuing to support people over the phone. The new weekly Walk and Talk group has got off to a very strong start, please get in touch to book a space.

Young Carers
Project is currently recruiting a new Project Manager

Staff are splitting their time between working in the office, in the community and at home.

Please get in touch if you have any questions.
