Community Champions Events

  • Community Gathering Tuesday 5th March 2.30-3.45pm at Kibworth Golf Club, Weir Rd, Kibworth, Kibworth Beauchamp, Leicester LE8 0LP
  • Fraud and Cyber Protection Training – Wednesday 20th March 10-12 noon, open to all members of the project at Torch House.
  • Community Gathering Wednesday 3rd April Lubenham Village Hall, 1 Laughton Rd, Lubenham, Market Harborough LE16 9TE, visit from the Harborough Movie Makers.

We normally offer transport for Community Champions’ events which include our clients, but we do need to know ten days in advance that you are joining us.

Please let us know that you are attending events even if you don’t need transport so that we can make sure that we reserve enough space for us all.

 Groups run by other organisations

We try to keep this information up to date, but you should always contact the group before making a journey.

You can search for groups and activities on the VAL website, you can filter the results by location and the type of activity that you are interested in.

HarboroughFM has an events page, the majority of the events are around Market Harborough but it does cover one off events across the area.

Broughton Astley Best Life

For adults of all ages with a diagnosis of a long term health condition, a drop in session with free complementary therapies and a chance to relax and unwind.

Timings:

Broughton Astley 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month, 10.00am-12.30pm,

Lutterworth 4th Tuesday of the month 10.00am-12.30pm

Broughton Astley Tai Chi Qigong Classes

Gentle exercise, often described as ‘moving meditation’,  the class is led by Best Life which offers ‘ A helping hand with long-term health conditions’.  £5 per session

Fleckney Library Knit, crotchet, stitch together

Great Glen Library

Silver Surfers Free session for the over 50’s. Help with using tablets, smart phones, etc and for support with getting online. To book a half hour slot or for further information, please contact Sumayya or Marie on 0116 223 7363 or speak to the library directly.

Kibworth Community Library

There are lots of activities at all of the Community Libraries, on the first Wednesday of the month Kibworth is hosting Coffee, cake and conversation – refreshments will be free of charge (or a donation can be made if you’d like to). If you know somebody else who would benefit from some company, then please pass this information on to them, they will be very welcome.

This appears to be happening on the First Wednesday of each month, but do check either online or by ringing 0116 3053612or emailing info@kibworthcommunitylibrary.org.uk as it is a new venture

Kibworth Cream Teas

At 2pm on the first Monday of each month The Well hosts a cream tea for Senior Citizens, transport is available, see their website for more information about the whole range of activities they offer.

It is run entirely by village volunteers and there is lovely cake, tea/coffee and local produce available.

Each month they raise money for a different charity so if you need to chat someone, and want to help a community cause it’s a good place to consider. Everyone was really friendly.

10-12 noon 2nd Wednesday of the month,in the village hall.

Lutterworth Age Concern’s events for older people

About: Age Concern Lutterworth & District is a small independent local charity and has been helping older people in the area for the last 53 years.

About: The Church organises events for over 50s from 2.30 and 4.30pm on the second Wednesday each month and information about these will go up on their website

Market Harborough Methodist Church Afternoon Out

Details 1st Wednesday of the month, sit and chat or play board games, dominoes, snooker etc or take part in crafts such as Cross stitch.

Make friends with a book every Tuesday 2pm to 3.30pm.  A place to relax, a chance to make new friends, and a new way to enjoy sharing reading. There is no pressure to read or talk, you can simply drop in, sit down and relax as you listen to a good story or poem. There is no homework.

Games Together every Wednesday afternoon. Join others in a friendly game of Scrabble, Ludo, Chess and more. Drop in anytime between 1pm and 3pm!

Medbourne

The Autumn Club meets on the third Wednesday of the month in homes around the village.  Contact: Penny Polito by email, or telephone 01858 565889 for details

Senior Citizens’ Lunches are held at the Sports Club on the last Thursday of every month for people from the village. The cost is £5 per person to include a lunch a sweet and tea or coffee. Anyone who wants to join the Lunch Club (no joining fee) can contact Mike Rickman (565377) with their details and to book a place.

Events across the whole District

Harborough Sports

Harborough Council run various activities across the District for the over 50’s  eg; New Age Kurling (Scraptoft), Walking Football, Walking Groups and Physical Activity Sessions.There are locations in villages as well as the bigger towns.  See their details here:

Steady Steps
