Telephone Advice Line

We have a dedicated telephone line for My Mind Matters, for anyone with a mental health concern to call for advice, information and guidance. We don’t focus on the medical side of mental health but rather the social and personal aspects which may be exacerbating mental wellbeing.

You don’t need to have a mental health diagnosis, you may be concerned about a friend, a relative or a neighbour etc. and need some general advice about what to do. You may be concerned about your own mental health and need some advice and information about what to do next.

We offer a wide range of information about services available in Leicester and Leicestershire offering:

  • Advocacy
  • Benefits Advice
  • Debt Information
  • Health and Wellbeing services
  • Housing Support
  • Lifestyle
  • Employment
  • Therapy

This list is not exhaustive as we focus on the individual not the issue.

We don’t offer direct advocacy or counselling ourselves, but work with a range of well-established partner organisations which can offer expert guidance and direct support for a variety of issues.

If a person is in a situation where they need specialist support and treatment, we will always refer them in the first instance to their GP for an assessment and other statutory services to ensure they are properly cared for. This is to ensure that they get the best treatment possible.

The project is not a crisis service and it would be unfair to the individual if we tried to help at a level where they could feel overwhelmed and pressured to make change when they are not ready for it, or if they need more than advice, information and support to move forward. However, in all instances we will endeavour to find a way to help you move forward.
