Leicestershire County Council has worked with VASL for several years. VASL has been commissioned by LCC to deliver a Support for Carers project and a community transport project, both of which are successful and highly commendable.
VASL have also been awarded SHIRE Community Grants from Leicestershire County Council, along with funding from the Leicestershire Communities Fund, in recent years.
We have always found VASL to be a highly positive organisation to work with, and they always deliver a high standard of service for any projects/activities they are funded to deliver.
More recently, LCC worked closely in partnership with VASL Community Champions to develop a Loneliness Toolkit for Leicestershire. Quite simply, without the input of VASL’s dedicated staff team,
The Loneliness Toolkit would not have come to fruition.
To help develop the content for the Loneliness Toolkit, I was invited to attend a ‘tea and cake’ afternoon with older individuals who have been supported through VASL’s Community Champions project. This was an incredibly valuable session, which CC enabled me to discuss issues related to loneliness and isolation directly with people who have experienced isolation. The discussions helped inform the development of the Loneliness Toolkit, and it was also a fantastic opportunity to see the impacts of the Community Champions project first-hand.
Overall, I would maintain that Leicestershire County Council has an extremely positive working relationship with VASL. VASL is a highly credible and trusted provider of local services and an organisation we hold in the highest of esteem.
