Our volunteer drivers provide transport for people who don’t have a car of their own or have difficulty using public transport. We take people to hospital appointments, vaccinations, dental appointments, to visit loved ones in nursing homes and to the leisure centre to name a few.
We operate in the eastern part of Harborough District and we are looking for more drivers, particularly people based in Fleckney, Kibworth or Market Harborough. Ideally you will be able to give us one day a week, but please talk to us about what you can offer. We pay expenses of 45p per mile and offer full training.
There are still some modifications to ensure that we keep everyone safe, eg drivers and passengers must wear masks, and vehicles have to be cleaned between journeys.
The Car Scheme team are very supportive, and are looking forward to welcoming drivers back into the office – they are famous for their supply of cakes and tea, and we hope it won’t be long before the kettle is on again.
