Eligibility Criteria for Services

This page lists the eligibility criteria for each of VASL’s services. For each one, you are eligible if:

Support for Carers Leicestershire

  • Someone relies on you for their care.
  • You are over 18 years old.
  • You care for someone over 18 years old.
  • You live in Leicestershire. If you live in Leicester, please contact Age Concern.

Young Carers Activity Group

  • Someone relies on you for their care.
  • You are aged over 11 years old, or in year 7 above and under the age of 18.
  • You live in the Harborough District. If you live outside the Harborough District you may want to contact Barnardo’s, see young carers useful contacts

My Mind Matters

  • You are affected by mental health, either directly or because you care for someone with a mental health condition.
  • You live in Harborough District.
  • You are over 18 years old.
  • You are not in crisis. If you are in need of urgent help, please see our page with My Mind Matters useful contacts or call the Samaritans on 116 123.

(Note: You will be able to access more detailed services if you have a diagnosed mental health condition)

VASL Car Scheme

  • You do not have access to your own transport.
  • You have difficulty using public transport or have no access to public transport.
  • You live in our catchment area (east side of A5199 of Harborough District).
  • You need transport to destinations in Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Nottingham.
  • You are able to get in and out of a car.

(Note: If you have memory problems, then you may be required to take an escort)

Community Champions

  • You are over the age of 60.
  • You live alone.
  • You live in Harborough District.
  • You do not have a diagnosis of dementia or serious mental health issues.

Wellbeing Befriending Service

  • You are aged 18 plus.
  • You live in Harborough District.
  • You are experiencing mild to moderate mental wellbeing challenges.
  • You have a desire to change
